A 10 month deal between AT&T (News - Alert) and Connecticut’s Frontier Communications has received strong approval from not only the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority, but also by the Communications Workers of America local union. The deal is set to close later this month with Frontier promising to make several improvements as part of the deal.

As the Internet of Things connects more devices on a constantly growing basis, these devices make good use of Bluetooth and GPS technology, which also continues to grow and improve. Qualcomm is a company that clearly has its mind set on the future. It is with this in mind that Qualcomm (News - Alert) has agreed to acquire Bluetooth and GPS chipmaker CSR Plc.

Cloud services have made it easy for companies to maintain their data in a secure location while keeping everyone in the company connected. On the flip side of the coin you have cloud service providers who need to maintain the virtual servers, as well as their cloud-based infrastructure, in order to provide quality service. This takes money and this week Green Cloud Technologies received funding that will go a long way towards this end.

Other cloud-based news concerns cloud infrastructure pioneer EMC Corp. This week, EMC (News - Alert) announced that it is looking to acquire a cloud computing startup called Cloudscaling Group Inc. There has been a lot of speculation about the details but no real information has been made public. Cloudscaling already uses EMC’s open source platform, so it should be a simple transition for both companies.

Two of the more important factors that a company needs to consider for its products and devices are functionality and price. While a lot of people praise Google (News - Alert) Glass, a lot of people cannot afford it. There is a new Kickstarter campaign currently running by Optinvent for its ORA Smart Glasses. It is said that these smart glasses have more functionality at a lower price.
