In what is either marketing genius or an inspired bit of advertising tomfoolery, actor, model and venture capitalist Ashton Kutcher, has debuted in his latest role: Product Engineer for computer maker Lenovo (News - Alert).

Appearing in a series of commercials for the company’s products, Kutcher uses his amiable familiarity with audiences to subtly, but surely, extol the virtues of Lenovo’s new Yoga Tablet.

In the latest installment of the company’s consumer-focused video series, Kutcher discusses the tech functionality of the Yoga with a group of business entrepreneurs. In this spot, Lenovo is looking for consumer and user feedback to build a newer and better functioning Yoga.

Greeted with skepticism by some, new dad Kutcher jokes with one focus group member about being the actual Lenovo product engineer behind the Yoga Tablet and not just acting, as he’s more famously known for.

Posted on Lenovo’s official YouTube (News - Alert) page, Kutcher is shown leading the group of entrepreneurs that begin to express everyday tech issues with their tablets. He then suggests some new technology features like unique wall projections and an extended battery life that is stronger than Apple (News - Alert) products. Lenovo says it now has plans to implement consumer and user suggestions into its next generation product.

In earlier ads for the company, Kutcher faced off with a roomful of “senior citizen users,” who explained their enthusiasm for the product, but also expressed their concerns. Using his trademarked deadpan humor, Kutcher calmly addressed their concerns while extolling the product’s virtues. That video can be seen HERE.

Kutcher also worked, in a previous ad, with the toughest audience of all – children – who let fly with commentary and critiques as only kids can. As seen in the spot, the kids are vocal in their wishes for what they’d like to see in a tablet. One little boy wishes it could turn into a “giant screen to show movies,” an advancement that Kutcher assures him is coming.

All in all, it’s a clever way for Lenovo to deliver its message, using humor and warmth while still presenting the best sides of the product.
