As of January 2014, there were around 861,379,000 registered host names, however, the number of active websites that were recorded was just over 180 million. In today's environment, websites are used to address consumers and provide an outlet in which users can access information and/or purchase products and services. As Web development continued to evolve, companies have been improving the online experiences of their customers by using different channels or touch points. This includes social media and mobile technology, which has forced companies to align their online strategies by redesigning their websites and providing more features. CoreMedia, provider of web content management (WCM) software, announced it has been selected to launch the new Web properties of Henkel and update its online platform.

Henkel has leading brands and technologies in three business areas: laundry and homecare, beauty care and adhesive technologies, with a global footprint employing more than 47,000 people and millions of customers. The company was looking to upgrade its digital presence by personalizing its platform with multichannel and social media touch points.

In order to bring Henkel’s online presence to present technology, the new Web properties were built on CoreMedia 7, which is the latest version of CoreMedia's flagship Web Content Management solution. This management solution is going to allow Henkel to meet current and emerging global Web publishing requirements to target different groups including investors, partners, service providers, media representatives, B2B business partners, job applicants and consumers.

With this upgrade, the company can give visitors access to the different segments of the website with content that is relevant and timely as well as providing communication channels such as its newsletter and mobile app. Currently CoreMedia has launched Henkel’s global and German site on the new platform, which will be followed by 45 regional websites throughout the world.

CoreMedia has an object-based architecture and user-friendly site templates giving businesses the ability to reuse content across multiple deployments with a centralized editorial control to ensure an organization's identity remains consistent across all of its websites.

CoreMedia 7 gives business and technical users the tools for managing their digital environment with functional components including content management, editorial empowerment, mobile experience, social interaction and contextual engagement.

“By managing website content centrally using CoreMedia 7, Henkel is now perfectly positioned to present content that is optimized for many different channels, including mobile. Multichannel set-up and personalized content at different touchpoints are far from being pure B2C topics,” said Gerrit Kolb, CEO of CoreMedia.
