Cloud-managed 4G LTE (News - Alert) networking solutions provider CradlePoint has named Ian Pennell its chief marketing officer. He will be in charge of the company's global marketing. This position consists of product marketing, product management, demand generation, corporate communications, brand strategy, business development and customer support.
CradlePoint (News - Alert)'s solutions are known for enhancing business continuity, security and network intelligence for distributed enterprises around the world. The hiring of Pennell represents CradlePoint's continuous growth as company recent opened an EMEA headquarters in the United Kingdom and appointed Jim Lehay as vice president and managing director of EMEA operations.
Pennell, who has 30 years of experience working in the computer and networking industry, will be responsible for reporting directly to CradlePoint CEO and chairman of the board George Mulhern and will help guide the strategic direction of the company's marketing team. Mulhern is happy that Pennell has come onboard, referring to him as "an experienced and respected leader in the networking industry."

Pennell previously served as senior vice president and general manager of Cisco (News - Alert)'s Small Business Group and Cisco's Enterprise Access Routing Technology Group. He has also held numerous positions in the areas of senior sales, marketing and engineering across many different technology startups.
Pennell said he is looking forward to working during a time when the networking market is moving from wired to secure wireless networks, as well as helping CradlePoint in its next phase of growth and further distinguishing it from its competitors.
