While Facebook (News - Alert) might be the unchallenged king of social media, that doesn’t mean other sites aren’t going to try and get a piece of the action.  Sqeeqee is one such upstart that continues to try and ramp up its offerings in order to lure users in. The company announced last week that it’s bringing a new set of upgrades.

The website is one of the newest players in the social media market, just coming out of beta last summer. The upgrades this time around are focusing on better usability as well as a more attractive look and feel. One of the really interesting tweaks that Sqeeqee is offering up is the ability to actually change the theme on the site.

There is also the ability to customize the Shop’s colors, using 21 existing colors or other colors in the spectrum that website can access. The site also offers up either transparent or seamless background images, whichever the user might prefer. All of this customization gives users more control over their social media webpage. That’s something Facebook and Twitter (News - Alert) have never really allowed.

Smaller social media sites have found ways to try and set themselves apart from the big boys, because sites like Facebook already have a solid standing. Sqeeqee needs to make sure it can offer things no other sites can. Being able to have full control over the kinds of colors a social media profile employs is definitely one way to make sure there is some separation between the sites.

Company founder and CEO Jenny Ta issued a statement about the changes saying:

"We have not stopped in terms of making Sqeeqee better. We've upgraded the Shop with personal customization so every user can truly make the Shop his or her own for business use. This means that small businesses no longer have to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars creating a website only to add untold thousands more in marketing dollars to promote their website and sell their products. With Sqeeqee's social commerce platform, everything is free, providing each user/entrepreneur with everything they need to make their business successful."
