Just as the world was growing annoyed with the number of Facebook, Twitter (News - Alert) and Instagram screenshots being posted of Flappy Bird gameplay, the creator of the mobile game, Dong Nguyen, has decided to remove the game from circulation in app stores. Citing that the craze over Flappy Bird was ruining his “simple life,” Nguyen has experienced a great deal of backlash in response. Here are three addictive games though that could fill the hole in your game-addicted heart left by the absence of Flappy Bird.
Ironpants
The name ‘Ironpants’ contains a playful reference to Iron Man, a character that has grown in notoriety over the years due to the successful Marvel film franchise of the same name. Ironpants plays along the low-fidelity lines of Flappy Bird, allowing users to fly up and down and avoid obstacles. For game developers, it’s something of a bonus that users tend to enjoy simple games, which are easier to design than an XBOX or Playstation 4-style game.
Super Ball Juggling
If you can’t play Dong Nguyen’s most popular game, why not try his second highest rated one? Super Ball Juggling is also created by Nguyen, and while it’s unclear how long this one will remain in app stores, it’s quite simple in game play (as the name suggests, it’s all about juggling two balls at once) and could become the new Nguyen game of choice for now.
Candy Crush Saga
In the fast-paced world of mobile gaming, where apps seem to be forgotten almost as quickly as they’re lauded (Angry Birds, anyone?), Candy Crush has been a remarkably strong with the mobile game users, as it’s still highly rated months after its debut.
Those are just three games to check out. This writer must confess that he sticks to Tetris, but for the ambitious game downloader, there’s a whole world of possibilities out there for you.
