For any of us living somewhere where snow can destroy power lines and close highways and roads, we know how devastating a major snow storm can be. As the Northeast attempts to shovel and plow their way out of the aftermath of yesterday’s winter storm Janus, one of the world’s most renowned companies is taking a hit – well one of its brick-and-mortar stores at least. The tech empire Apple (News - Alert) is in cleanup mode up after winter storm Janus hit, for one of its major gems – the “Cube” Apple store in New York City – was significantly damaged.

The flagship Apple store is in one of the most prime locations in the world – Fifth Avenue at Central Park. Millions of tourists pass by the store on any given day, and it sure catches the viewer’s eye to say the least. The store is literally encased in a 32-foot-tall glass cube, and to be honest it is quite breathtaking. (See below.)

Unfortunately for Apple, Mother Nature was very unforgiving. On Tuesday – in the midst of winter storm Janus – one of the enormous glass panels completely shattered. Instagram fanatics rejoiced at the spectacle – for it appeared all over social media.

Ironically enough, winter storm Janus was not truly the culprit. Apparently – according to an Apple rep – the glass shattered on Tuesday when a snow blower hit it (I wonder how that guy feels). It’s kind of hard to get Apple upset, and fixing the structure is short of chump change – a whole $445,000 a panel (Chump change…right). Apple just can’t get itself out of the news lately, and Apple sales don’t seem to want to ever slow down, as TMCnet Senior Editor Tony Rizzo (News - Alert) predicts.

Don’t worry NYC visitors – Apple’s “cube” store remains open for business, despite the malfunction. Apple doesn’t miss a beat.
