We live in a society where organization is key, and we love to have everything at our fingertips – right where we need it. This most definitely applies to technology, for we carry our smartphones and tablets everywhere we go, and we expect our devices to keep our lives organized. (I mean, we couldn’t possibly do it ourselves.) Google Maps for iOS has been raised to version 2.5.0, and for users in select locations, this brings some new perks for the OCD prone and the tech savvy alike.
Google Maps for iOS version 2.5.0 will now link to your Gmail account, allowing Google Maps to organize – or, may I say, reroute – your life in more ways than ever before. By linking Google Maps and your Gmail account, Google Maps will help you get more in control of your activities and events. Need to get to your flight, don’t know how to get to your hotel, totally forgot about that dinner reservations with Mr. Wrong and now you are running late? Google Maps will incorporate this information into the map before you even have the chance to yourself. Because Maps is connected to your Gmail account, Maps will already aware of where you need to go (even if you aren’t so sure).
Google Maps iOS version 2.5.0 is not the only update Google has made recently to make our lives easier. Google has been busy working on making Street View more user-friendly as well. This takes me back to an article I wrote before Thanksgiving regarding select airports, train and subway stations being equipped with Google Street View capabilities, allowing holiday travelers to worry about one less thing – and let’s face it, travel always involves some screaming and yelling (and don’t forget to throw getting lost into the mix).
It seems as of late that Google knows that consumers wants to stay connected and organized, and through apps such as Google Maps, even the biggest technology Grinch will feel his heart grow three times larger.
