Custom developer and mobile applications incubator MEDL Mobile recently announced that its Hang w/ platform through Twitter (News - Alert) has surpassed 900,000,000 users and may exceed one billion as early as the beginning of next month.

Hang w/ is a mobile app that allows users to connect with people around the world in real-time  through live streaming video and simultaneous chat.

The Twitter functionality enables app users the ability to automatically invite their Twitter followers to the Hang w/ platform at the time of the desired broadcast. A link posted on the user's Twitter stream takes their followers to either the iTunes Store or the Google (News - Alert) Play Store to download the Hang w/ app so that they can view the broadcast.

"We will continue to bring more Twitter super users to Hang w/," MEDL Mobile CEO Andrew Maltin said in a statement. "And we'll keep adding new functionality to make it easier for all of our users to share their Hang w/ content on Twitter and other social media such as Facebook (News - Alert) and Instagram."

MEDL Mobile has just released a new version of Hang w/ app that incorporates a Facebook functionality, offering users the opportunity to stream live video from Hang on their Facebook wall.

The new 2.0 version, available at the Apple (News - Alert) App Store, also features improved video and audio quality; hashtags for custom content channels and a deeper integration with Twitter; three, six and nine minute broadcasting options; simplified archives for easier access; coins for eventual purchase of digital content and foods; a new robust moderation or monitoring platform and user privacy controls; and an extensive integration of iOS7 functionality.

Since the public release of the app's original version in March, more than 80 famous individuals have joined the Hang w/ platform. These include Timbaland, 50 Cent, Kaskade, Paula Abdul, Jamie Kennedy, Ali Landry, Shaun T, Jordin Sparks, Cheech and Chong, and Terrell Owens.

Many celebrities have used Hang w/ on Twitter as a promotional tool such as with 50 Cent who shared new music with fans over a Hang w/ broadcast back in August. According to a press release, MEDL president and chief creative officer Dave Swartz, said the event attracted "a spike in new users and created the most attended live Hang With broadcast to that date."
