Just as expected, once smartphones became mainstream devices people started contemplating the possibility of wearable technology. Shortly thereafter, the smart watch had been begotten into existence. This wasn't the only “smart” device out there, though. Wearable technology is certainly not the only market for electronics. As predicted, all sorts of other “smart” appliances started appearing in households, from smart washing machines to smart refrigerators and even smart ovens and TVs.

What previously was a market starving for “the next big thing” eventually became saturated with all sorts of incredible innovation. We have, in essence, entered a new golden age for home technology.

On that note, a new kind of “smart” thingamabob has arrived: the smart meat thermometer. IDEVICES, a company that came up with the sleek and cool iGrill smart grill and cooking thermometer, has just introduced a high-performance of the same product, known as the iGrillmini, which connects via Bluetooth to any compatible mobile device.

From your smartphone you will be able to set up a temperature for your food, and then set an alarm for when the food reaches that temperature. That way, you do not need to stay next to the grill while cooking. Its highly heat-resistant enclosing allows it to stay on the job at temperatures of up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit or as low as 32 degrees. Along with the core temperature functions, the iGrill's smartphone app allows you to browse several different recipes, which may be more appetizing than what you were planning to cook.

This isn't just some regular thermometer in a fancy package. Users will also get to set minimum and maximum temperatures, export temperature graphs and probe the ambient temperature. Needless to say, the iGrillmini would make an excellent gift for barbecue enthusiasts everywhere!
