Vimeo (News - Alert) On Demand has launched several new features to its popular direct distribution site that are being made available to the PRO-version users. The new features will allow for more flexibility within the platform and make a new set of tools available to the user. Vimeo On Demand is often referred to as a “professional version of YouTube (News - Alert),” since the site gives video creators the ability to make their own video and film creations available for sale.

Vimeo On Demand has made the following changes available to the Pros:

• Rent or Own Options: The originator can charge the viewer different prices, depending on whether or not the viewer wants to stream or download a work.
• Preorders: Originators can make their work available for preorder to viewers, which will push sales upward by creating hype about a given work.
• Advanced Statistics: Originators can learn more about how their work is performing by offering more information about how often a trailer is viewed or how many viewers have paid to view a specific work. These will be more easily made available to Pro members through Advanced Stats module.
• Promo Code Generation: Originators will be allowed to create their own promotional codes, for free, that can be made available to select groups for free viewings that can be applied at checkout.

Dae Mellencamp, the president of Vimeo, says that the company is always changing, in order to provide users with new features; “Vimeo On Demand is constantly evolving to give creators the power to sell their work on their own terms, while enabling viewers to discover and consume high-quality content in the best way possible. The new features added today put more control in creators’ hands and give audiences more options to view amazing work.”

People with original content can access over one million unique visitors to the Vimeo site, and, since March of 2013, they have developed an impressive library of more than 2,000 videos and films.
